| I was born in Astoria, New York to Greek immigrant parents. I was raised in Flushing, New York and attended public grade school. In addition, I attended Greek School at St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church in Queens for eight years where I learned how to speak, read and write Greek. I attended high school on Long Island and continued on to college. I commenced my collegiate studies at LIU- C.W. Post Campus where I attended for 1 ½ years. During my studies I developed a fascination with the law. So in January 1987 I transferred to Hofstra University where I was able to attend pre-law classes. I graduated Hofstra University in August 1988 completing my college courses in a total of three years rather than the normal four years. During this time I held various jobs including working as a legal clerk at Cullen & Dykman, as well as working as a bank teller at Astoria Federal Savings Bank. I was carrying a total of 18 credits a semester and working 30-35 hours a week and I still graduated with honors. Immediately after graduating from Hofstra University in August 1988, I attended Thomas M. Cooley Law School in Lansing, Michigan. I completed my course of study of the law in only 2 years and 4 months, 8 months earlier than most law students and I received a Juris Doctorate in January 1991 . At the time I was 23 years old, one of the youngest graduates in the history of the school. After sitting for the New York State bar examination, I was admitted to practice law in January 1992. Thereafter, I started my legal career working for GEICO Insurance company as a defense lawyer where I handled approximately 1,000 files over a 2 ½ years period of time. I learned quickly working with seasoned attorneys and trial lawyers. During my time working as a defense attorney, I realized how insurance companies treated injured people, even their own policyholders. It was in May 1994 when I decided to switch sides and I joined a small law firm in Huntington, New York where I focused on representing seriously injured people. The advantage that I had was that I knew all the tricks of the defense trade and how to counter them. After about 1 ½ years of working for the small law firm, in October 1995, I decided it was time to start my own law practice which has been successful for the last twelve years. Over the last fifteen years, I gained extensive experience not only in Personal Injury litigation but in Real Estate and Estate Planning matters as well. Initially handling Real Estate and Estate Planning matters for existing personal injury clients, I have since handled nearly a thousand real estate and estate planning matters. I am admitted to practice law before the Courts of the State of New York, as well as to the Eastern and Southern District Federal Courts of New York. |
